From what I’ve been told we can expect to see some changes taking place to Citywalk before the end of the year. It seems they want to improve traffic flow to the shops near the NASCAR Café and may extend some of the nearby gift shops as well as alter the current staircase.
On a side note you might want you give yourself some extra time to get to the park these days. Maybe it’s just because of all the new-hires, but apparently the already long line at the parking toll is just taking forever these days. In addition to the various little reasons the Universal toll plaza seems to take longer to get through than any other park, there is a new factor causing even longer delays for all you Passholders. For whatever reason the booth crew has begun to demand that all Passholders now show a photo ID before they are given free parking. Of course this is in direct contrast to the normally speedy process Disney Passholders go through which can often be mistaken for the driver giving a friendly wave to the cast member in the booth since it happens so fast.
Effective as of 5/28/2008, Universal Orlando has increased the price of parking from $11 to $12 for cars, vans and motorcycles, with Preferred Parking bumping up to $18. The price for RVs, Busses and Trailers has increased from $12 to $15. While the cost of parking going up at theme parks seems to be as inevitable as “Death & Taxes”, I think the timing is just poor with everyone getting hit where it hurts right now as the price of gas nears a record breaking $4 a gallon. Maybe a little “mercy” and a price rollback might have been in order instead.
Nickelodeon will be returning to Universal Orlando this August to film 20 episodes of My Family’s Got Guts, an extreme sports competition series.
